R.L. Brett
Professor Brett died in December 1996 after a distinguished academic career. For many years he was G.F. Grant Professor of English at the University of Hull, and he also held visiting professorships at universities in America, Germany and elsewhere. His books include studies of poetics, editions of Wordsworth and Coleridge and works on figures as diverse as Andrew Marvell and William Hazlitt.
